today was a day for TRTA Lobby Day
at the Texas Capitol!
which we are only a few feet from...
but we had hundreds of TRTA members
(retired teachers and other school personnel)
converge for the event, to be honored in the house and senate,
take pictures with their representatives and senators,
and attend an ice cream social and a press conference.
I got to work around 6:45 am, ready to rock and roll!
As seen below:
khakis: victoria's secret
shoes: skechers
jewelry: hannah d's
our building was purposefully built about 200
steps from the Capitol building. we are a legislative
action non-profit organization. most of the work i do,
however, is for the charitable arm of the organization,
the foundation. i raise funds to support programs such
as scholarhips, grants, and emergency aid. i am the
only person who really works for the foundation, though
i am officially TRTA staff.
necklace:
skechers were called for!
when i got home this afternoon i slept for 2 1/2 hours.
during the press conference our posters kept blowing
during the press conference our posters kept blowing
over, so i had to stand for 45 minutes straight
in the 95 degree heat with the sun beating down on me,
smiling. haha!!! me and 2 other co-workers.
overall, the day was a success. i felt like we had a
tremendous amount of support from our
senators and representatives today.
