unicorny!

did you ever collect anything as a kid
that you have continued, in some form, to
hang on to and/or display?
i had a big thing for unicorns and also matchbox cars,
and i still display those in my home.
more on that later . . .
i struggled this morning with this outfit,
trying to determine whether or not red as an accent color
would really work. i'm still not sure i'm fond of the result.
i was too tired to be accessorizing this morning methinks!
details:
skirt: walmart
white stretch shirt: walmart
(handed down from mom)
vest: windsor
shoes: payless
all jewelry: hannah d's

up top:

pattern mixing!

earrings
matching necklace

menagerie of bracelets
a commenter asked about the ring i am wearing here
yesterday. it is not a stone, but rather, a mood ring.
my mom gave the ring to me when i was 14!
i've worn nearly every single day since then.
which is about 19 years, but not quite!

shoe montage:

and this brings me back to the unicorn topic:
it looks as if there is a unicorn perched upon
my shoulder in this picture, but i assure you, it is not!
that particular piece is a bell. it's sitting on a shelf on the wall.
i also still have a little fake crystal unicorn nightlight and a
wooden sign my mom had made for me when i was a kid
that has a unicorn painted on it and reads "Cindee's Room."
i also recently purchased a unicorn belt!
maybe one day i'll share pics of the pieces i do have.

i have a bit of an obsession with butterflies, myself... love the shoes today, as usual, and the pattern mixing is so cool since they echo each others' general shapes! i think the red works fine with the yellow- primary, baby! the original complementary colors ;)

I didn't much collect anything as a kid- and now I collect far too many things! If I had been allowed to buy all kinds of things as a child I probably would have stocked up on the Hello Kitty things going round then.
I like the colors in the outfit- I think they all work well! The vest is really cute.

I like this a lot! I would have never put this together but I I'm loving the patterns :-)

I didn't collect anything as a kid, but I think I'm making up for it by collecting clothes :-)

As a kid, collected anything horse related ;) typical teen girl..

Just love your pattern mixing! You're so much more daring than me!

I've always collected teddy bears, hence the name of my blog. Whoever I end up marrying will have to deal with at least part of my ridiculously large stuffed collection.

Oh, and I definitely think red works as an accent color.
You look lovely.

Oh goodness, I went through a stage of collecting slugs but am pleased to report they no longer grace my home!

As a child, I was a huge reader and had loads of Enid Blyton books (Famous Five etc). I still love to read but the rest of life gets in the way; I also make more use of the library to keep the costs down.

I love the vest on you! Super cute. Love the way you paired it with the skirt. Also, loving the jewelry. Especially the bangles :)

Thanks for posting about the ring :) It really is beautiful. BTW, did you see the "unicorn" shoe on my blog? The heel looks like a unicorn horn! The bad news is that they are like $119 at solestruck.
